OK, i've had this problem for the longest. Everytime i insert a cd to play, it sounds kinda choppy, accelerated, and robotic all at the sametime. It does the same with the dvd video, samething happens when i'm burning a cd... it messes up all audio while the drivers are working. I've only tried CD-ROM cleaner but that didnt work...any help or advise will be greatly appreciated. I have a DELL Dimension DIM4550 256MB of RAM: XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2... i dont know if you need that but please help! :tazz:

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I would try updating the drivers. Go to Dells web page and search for driver updates for your computer.

If it's a CD-RW/DVD combo (3 in 1) drive. It might be broken and not reading correctly. In that case (which is probably the worst case scenerio) it is probably under warranty by Dell. All that you would need to do is call them or review the warranty terms yourself and decide whether or not to contact them over replacement. To test if it is broken, try hooking up any CD drive that you know to be functioning and see if you still have that problem. Hope this helps.
