are you using the windows configuration tool, or are you using the softwware from the router... there could be a conflict with the router software and windows . try going to microsoft and looking up the knowleddge base for "wireless zero configuration" errors... they can be helpful in troubleshooting connectivity issues with wireless routers.

No this is not applicable. What I am telling you to do is what needs to be done. The reason the router isnt working is because there is already a PPPoE connection inside the modem as it is a configurable modem. These settings inside the modem need to be changed so another device on the network can facilitate the PPPoE connection. In this case that is the router.

Ok I have found some information on this modem. Most of the site is in Japanese so I am unable to read it.

http://asahi-net.jp/...-c-wd701cv.html

This site appears to contain instructions for setting the modem to bridge mode. Alternativly if you call your ISP and ask them for help setting the modem to bridge mode they should be able to walk you through it.

w/ PPoE DSL you should need username/password and POSSIBLY need to authenticate your MAC address. The PC that works fine when plugged into the modem itself, is that what you were using prior to your router purchase? If thats the case, you can try ipconfig /all on your PC and getting the MAC off of your NIC. Once you have that, you can go into your router and in the administrative tabs, go to MAC Spoof. Let us know if that helps.

Well hmmm, did you try using the link i gave you for setting this modem to bridge mode?

If you cant figure it out you can always call Dlink and see if they can help you set your modem to bridge mode, if not have them help you set router to bridge.
