I was looking over some of the logs placed on here by others that have been infected and I am not able to do half of what is being recommended. Even in safe mode all I have is a black screen with the SAFE MODE in the corners and writing on the top. No START button or anything else. I have to use the CTRL+ALT+DEL to attempt any program and half of the programs are not working because it involves the Explorer which is what is dead. I was able to run HijackThis and SpyBot. SpyBot did not find anything and I can't update it because I can not access the net. I am visiting my mother to use her computer. Here is the HiJackThis Log...

OK More update. I tried to run the smitrem.zip with the RunThis.bat...well, my computer laughed at it. I had lots of Could Not find File, System Could Not Find Path, The System Could not find file specified, Access Denied, etc. Then the Explorer.exe error window pops up then tried to run Disk Clean. Can not run the sfc /scannow It just flashes and disappears. *Sigh* Anyone coming to Maine? LOL

I am in Mass, will take me a few hours!...lol

start in normal mode, then pull up task manager and use New Task to browse to \Program Files\Internet Explorer and start iexplore.exe, then go to Panda for a scan. scan your system32 folder so it can clean wininet.

Run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

Reboot and things hopefully will be ok.

Let me know.

Thanks,

:tazz:

In Normal Mode...I get to the screen to pick which desktop to log into, Once I pick one it just gives me the blue screen naming the virus. How can I run the task manager? Can you do it from that front screen naming all the desktops? And can't do anything on the net til I get my desktop up in normal mode so I can access the net

Well I tried the Battering Ram theory and IT WORKED!!! I tried running the various programs of spyware, fixes, etc back to back, tried logging on and repeated in different patterns and it seems to have worked. I am actually typing from the infected computer. What AntiVirus things should I run now to have it make SURE everything is gone?
