Help!My screen shrunk!

Hi! I need your help desperately. I'll explain the situation the best I can, but please refer to the attached photos as well!
Today, out of the blue, my Windows XP screen shrunk... the 'black' part of the screen on the left is about 2cm wide, the bottom black part is slightly less wider than that, and the top and right black parts are about a centimetre or less. The Windows screen seems slightly oval. Furthermore, when I try to turn the round button on the screen itself, I get a weird thick red and yellow line with a lot of gibberish in it... some chinese leters or something.

What can I do to restore the screen?

Please help me!

Have you tried using the buttons that are under the power button of your monitor?

That might get your screen back to the normal shape and size.
