Hi
I have just been plagued by a series of virii that I appear to have removed or healed successfully.

The fallout after this is that everytime I start up my PC I get a pop up error message that says, something along the lines of,

"Cannot find P2esocks_1021dll module".

Can it be removed, or is it harmful in any way?

It appears that you have two anti-virus program running: AVG and Norton. Is that correct? Please uninstall one of the programs. Sometimes having two programs running causes problems.

After you do that, I want you to go into add/remove programs and remove anything that says "webrebates".

Then click on my signature to run Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Follow those instructions and post a new log.

hi Jonny

Right here we go - I have managed to do as instructed. I located and removed;

C:\Program Files\EzButton VE 2.14 Folder

I could not locate the other two, and a full search was equally fruitless;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msbe.dll
p2esocks_1021.dll (probably in C:\windows\system32).

The good news is, that when I re booted, the error message did not appear - is this a good omen?

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
