Unknown sporadic trouble

When typing in mozilla or IE, windows (not just browser windows) automatically close, sometimes even after moving the mouse just a bit. Mouse also seems to move slower when this occurs. Sometimes I cannot shutdown the computer when this happens because the start menu closes itself automatically after I click on the start button. I have run Spybot, Adaware, ewido, various programs specifically for trojans and spyware from the help page on this site. Usually the problems doesn't last very long, but arises at least once a day after a period of surfing on the internet, or even watching DVDs on my laptop. This slows down my computer and the other applications running.
