Re #13: Don't have to reboot. Instead, just disable and re-enable the network interface.

Summary: To detect this cause, in a CMD window: ipconfig /all. Look for Node Type: if it's "Unknown" then try this:

Regedit: HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\NetBT\parameters,
Change or create: dhcpnodetype, DWORD, 8;
and NodeType, DWORD, 8.
Bounce the LAN interface (in Network Connections, disable and re-enable.) ipconfig /all, Node Type should change to Hybrid.

If you're remote-controlling thru the same interface, you'll have to restart Windows instead, since you'll lose connection when you disable the interface.

Does anyone have a way to bounce and interface with a single command?

You guys are genius. After hours of hunting and experimenting - this solved it! What I found odd is that on a 2nd and 3rd machine on my network that were working fine, the registry did not even have the suggested entries. On my non-working machine, I made the change suggested by Post #8 (with the typo fixed as suggested by Post #13) and it worked!

I'm 3 years behind you guys but it looks like this solution is still good! THANKS!!
