My theme service is not running. I'm having a problem as many people are on here with the XP theme dissapearing and going back to the Windows Classic theme. I was browsing forums on here and came a cross a download for the Luna theme but it wont work because my theme service is not running. How do I turn it on?

Have you tried restarting after installing the theme?

Start-> Run. Type "services.msc". Ok.
This will open the services window.
Double-click on "Themes" service. And change its startup type to automatic. And reboot.

For future reference, right click MY COMPUTER, choose MANAGE. In the left pane, click SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS, then click SERVICES

Now look for THEMES in the right hand pane, double click

That said, I suspect the problem is not the service is not running, but that FORCE CLASSIC THEME is enabled as a group policy.

Have you recently cleaned any spyware? Have you run a spyware detection program?

start > run
regedit
enter

navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

right click the folder, choose export, then zip it up and attach it to your next post (you must zip it, as you cannot attach reg files)
