Please SAVE THIS PAGE or secure a PRINT COPY of the instructions. Make this as your reference.

Let us take down your infections one at a time. :tazz:
=================================================
You are advised to temporarily DISABLE the following Protection Programs:
  • Spyware Guard
(Note: We will re-ENABLE them later after your system is all clean and malware free.)
=================================================
It is highly recommended that you install your HijackThis Tool in a safe location where you can easily find them. It is suggested you place them in C:\HJT, that way it could create backups necessary for future restore.
=================================================
Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite [ HERE ]
Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from [ HERE ]
Unzip it to the desktop but please DO NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
(How to boot in Safe Mode...)

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Thank you kool808 for your reply

However i am unable to download Nailfix from the link you provided.
I was able to download 2 diff nailfix programs from the link.
one of them was a corrupt or unrecognizable file
the other gave me a message saying it was not able to run in windows or ms-dos.
Please advise on where else i might be able to find a location for this program.
I will post here if i find it myself.

I have updated previous reply since you have made a new post. we must have posted around the same time. also i used the add/remove program to get rid of trillian.

opened command prompt
im assuming that the
dir *.* >> c:\windows\desktop\pflist.txt
is supposed to send the program file list to the desktop as a text file.
For some reason my computer isnt allowing me to do it. it is giving me a msg saying that "the system cannot find the path specified"

Also i am unable to do this process. it tells me i am not able to do it because it might have already been closed or it might be protected by windows. then it tells me it might be a process and i can access it by start>run>services.msc

I went there, found it and when i tried to disable it, it wont let me. i just dont have the option to stop the process.

The SnoopService is so persistent, we will take care of that later.

You are advised to temporarily DISABLE the following Protection Programs:
  • Spyware Blaster
  • Spyware Guard
  • Spybot S&D - Tea timer
(Note: We will re-ENABLE them later after your system is all clean and malware free.)
========================================
Reboot in SAFE MODE. (How to boot in Safe Mode...)Through Windows Explorer, delete the following folder(s) or files(s) if they exist (in bold):
  • C:\Program Files\BearShare
  • C:\Program Files\XoftSpy
Finally, Empty Recycle Bin

============================
Reboot in NORMAL MODE.
  • Close all windows, open HijackThis then SCAN.
  • Post a NEW HijackThis Log.
  • Please tell me how your system is working now.
