Hello, biggiea200! I'll be helping you today.

Before I can help you though, please put HijackThis in a permanent folder. A folder called HiackThis on your desktop will be fine.

Please download the following files:

Download the Adware.Websearch Removal Tool Here.
Download CWS Shredder Here. Please open it and click "Check for updates" update if needed.
Download About:Buster Here.
Download LSPFix Here.

Do NOT run any of these yet.

Please go to
Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Now run the Adware.Websearch Removal Tool.
Run CWS Shredder.
Run About:Buster

Please run a virus scan Here.

Note anything that couldn't be removed.

Make sure ALL open windows are closed and then run hijackthis and check the following, if they appear.

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...spx?tb_id=50205
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TBPS] C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TBPS.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WINTOOLS\WTOOLSA.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WinTools] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WINTOOLS\WTOOLSA.EXE

O18 - Protocol: tpro - {FF76A5DA-6158-4439-99FF-EDC1B3FE100C} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL

Now click "Fix Checked"

Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 when you hear the first beep when you turn on your computer, but before you see the windows loading screen.

Delete the following folders, if they appear.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WINTOOLS
C:\PROGRAM FILES\TOOLBAR
C:\PROGRAM FILES\VIEWPOINT\VIEWPOINT MANAGER
C:\Program Files\NewDotNet

Delete the following files, if they appear.

C:\WINDOWS\TBSSAVER.SCR
Lien Van de Kelder.exe
- Search for it using the windows search utility.
(Start > Search > For Files or Folders)

Post back with a new hjt log please.

Hello, biggiea200!

I'm not sure if these didn't get checked in hijackthis, or they came back, but there are still a few entries here.

Run CWS Shredder again.
Run About:Buster again.

Please open hijackthis and put a check by the following:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

Please click Fix Checked.

Post back with a new hjt log please.

Congratulations! Your system is clean. :tazz:

Please reverse the instructions above and re-hide hidden files and folders.

Now that your spyware free let's try to keep you that way.

Make sure you keep your Windows OS current by visiting Windows update
occasionaly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. With out these you are leaving the backdoor open.

Also download, install and keep updated- Antivirus Software (and use only one):

#1 Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs: Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

#2 Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

#3 Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below: Understanding and Using Firewalls

#4 Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

#5 Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here: Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

#6 Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here: Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

#7 Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here: Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

#8 Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
