Hey.
Where can I find a really good mo/bo and cpu combo? or possible ram added with the combo?
I am looking within atleast $200 for the combo.

I have a GeForce FX5200 256mb vid card picked out also. (is it a good one?)

And what would be a good HDD to go with the mo/bo combo?

Thanks,

CPU - $97.99 AMD Barton 2500+
http://www.newegg.co...-103-379&depa=0

MOBO - $79 Abit NF-s (-$10 rebate)
http://www.newegg.co...-127-166&depa=0

Memory - 2 X $96 Crucial PC3200 512MB (1gb total)
http://www.newegg.co...-146-541&depa=0

Total $368.99

Set the motherboard FSB speed to 200mhz, and you'll get 3200+ performance (overclocked). <_<

If you want to save some money, use 512mb of RAM, using two sticks of 256mb. Always use two sticks of RAM with this dual-channel mobo.

It will run the games no problem! Will it run them at 1600x1200 with high detail and all the other eye candy turned on? Depends more on your video card than the CPU. This CPU is a good match for you video card, and most likely for the next one you'll buy too. Only if you're buying the very latest $500 video card would you need a faster CPU.

Okay, thanks.
Well, right now, I have two video cards in mind.
Here they are:

and
http://www.maincomp....duct.jsp?id=803

i am sort of leaning to the second one, but I am not sure. Which is better?

By the way, can you look at my other items that I currently have an eye out for? I am going to get these within 4-6 weeks.

Cd-Rom drive:
http://www.maincomp....duct.jsp?id=417

Hard Drive:

And the rest is going to be the ram, cpu and mobo you told me to check out.

Thanks,

Hi all
Reading the post you learn something new every day <_< . I was reading the post Admin made in this topic About the parts that he was recommending to the member come to say I have the same AMD 2500+ chip so I did the over clocking that Admin said to do. So I felt it was right to pass on what it did for my system.
Using Sisoftware sandra benchmark this is what I got.
Before overclocking
Dyrystone alu 7571 mips
whetsone fpu 2874 mflops
After overclocking
Dyrystone alu 8624 mips
whetsone fpu 3276 mflops
System info before overclocking
AMD Athlon™2500+
1.83GHz 256 MB of ram
System info before overclocking
AMD Athlon™3200+
2.09GHz 256 MB of ram

YAHOO :o love the new speed

Now all I need to do is get more ram :P

Admin your the man :D

Video cards are really about personal preference. nVidia or ATI, and what software or other fetures you want bundled with them. I usually refer people to this link that compares performance:
http://graphics.toms...1004/index.html

Check out this hard drive deal 80MB w/8MB cache for $29.99 after rebates:
http://www.bestbuy.c...=product&cmp=

I think for a few dollars more I would gt a CD/RW instead of a CD drive.

Nice performance boost Tazz! Gotta love those Barton 2500's. <_< You will definitely notice an improvement with 512MB of RAM. 1GB if you play the newer games. :D
