A while back my computer started occasionally freezing during windows start up, the scroll bar under the windwos XP sign would stop. After powering down and rebooting it would normally start up again. Recently upon start up or reboot I see a black screen and my monitor doesn't even register a signal, but everything lights up on the computer, drives work, fans are on etc. Upon reboot it either shows a blank screen or freezes at windows startup. If I repeatedly reboot the computer it will eventually start up. I even had it freeze once during windows safe mode start up. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem? I tried reinstalling windows but it won't boot from the CD during start up even when I ask it to boot from the CD drive. And from windows it says I have a newer version then whats on the CD.

did you try re-inserting your graphics card? I have had similar problems in the past and by re-inserting or replacing the graphics card it would solve the probelm.

No luck re-inserting the graphics card. I actually haven't been able to start the computer recently.
