OK, I think I figured it out but upon attempting to install this driver I get an error message saying that this driver 'has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP' and further warns 'Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future.' They recommend stopping the installation and contacting the the harware vendor for hardware that has passed Logo testing.

install the drives you downloaded, windows is just being stupid when it gives you that warning, the drivers are fine
