Hi, just joined after googling about the smart security problem. basically i get a red screen with the black DANGER:SPYWARE banner in the middle. My pc runs extremely slow because of this and everyday i run microsoft antispyware and spybot search and destroy and find more and more spyware. i constantly get a horse search pop up window which dissapears after spyware scans but returns shortly after, as well as other problems.

not the best with all this technical stuff, but ive downloaded hijack this and heres the log i got.

thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated.

Hi andrew,

You have a bunch of infections on your PC !!!! Lets get rid of these infections first and we will tackle Spy Sheriff later.

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall sosme programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

CleanUp
Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

2. Remove Infections

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

3. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = C:\WINDOWS\blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\evwfaoim.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {67D5B9C4-6D8F-AA9A-E936-A3A4CB7A5E81} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\nynetveo.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B73F75B8-93F3-429D-FF34-660B206D897A} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\pifn.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nstat] C:\WINDOWS\netstat.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CSV10P70] C:\Program Files\CSBB\CSv10P070.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [egnmfyks] C:\WINDOWS\System32\egnmfyks.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wupdater] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wisvccz.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Systemos Restart] Rundll32.exe pifn.dll, DllRegisterServer
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [wupd] C:\WINDOWS\System32\win32.exe
O4 - Startup: winupdate01027841[1].exe
O18 - Filter: text/html - {B72F75B8-93F3-429D-B13E-660B206D897A} - (no file)
O18 - Filter: text/plain - {B72F75B8-93F3-429D-B13E-660B206D897A} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: drct16 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drct16.dll

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

C:\Program Files\CSBB <---- Full Folder

C:\WINDOWS\System32\evwfaoim.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qnxmwqnp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\nynetveo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\pifn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\netstat.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\egnmfyks.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wisvccz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\win32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drct16.dll
winupdate01027841[1].exe

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch and delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Ewido scan report.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Hi again, sorry for the delay in reply.

Firstly on Hijack this, the files i could not find to fix where:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [wupd] C:\WINDOWS\System32\win32.exe
O4 - Startup: winupdate01027841[1].exe

Then, when deleting rogue files, using windows explorer, and i tried searching my system too, i could not find the following:

C:\Program Files\CSBB <---- Full Folder

C:\WINDOWS\System32\evwfaoim.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qnxmwqnp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\nynetveo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\pifn.dll

The Ewido scan report is huge and would have to be split into about 20 different posts to get it on. Maybe im doing the wrong report. I basically scanned the system using the program and then clicked view report, and copied them over.

Hope this is all right and helps. Once again thanks for your help, its much appreciated.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Hi again,

From the hijack this scan i managed to fix all the items listed. However in safe mode, when trying to locate rogue files i could not find the following -

Folders
C:\Program Files\websx
C:\Program Files\CSBB
C:\Program Files\dlsmg

Files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\fdemontr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\egnmfyks.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\logon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wisvccz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\win32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drct16.dll

However when rebooting my pc back into normal mode i had a eiwido message with regards to drct16.ddl, so may be all these files are still there im unsure.

I made sure all hidden files were visible before doing this.

I also couldnt find pifn.dll when searching in safe mode. All the files in prefetch are deleted. I Installed DelDomains.inf in safe mode but nothing seemed to happen.

Below is the latest log file.

  • First, download HSFix from here
  • After it is downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called "HSFix" and extract all the files into the newly created folder.
  • Next, download CleanUp! Install it, but do not run it yet.
  • Boot into safe mode: Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
  • Locate the HSFix folder on your desktop, open it, and double-click "hsfix.bat"
  • A log will be produced which you can close out of.
  • Then run HijackThis again, close any open windows and browsers and fix these:
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55} - (no file)

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: drct16 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drct16.dll
  • Run CleanUp! and let it clean your computer of temp files. Decline when it asks you to log off.
  • Restart your computer into normal mode and run at least one of the following free, online virus scans:
    http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
    http://www3.ca.com/t...sinfo/scan.aspx
  • Restart your computer one last time and post a new HijackThis log, as well as the HSFix log which is located at C:/hslog.txt

Looking at it, maybe something went wrong with installation as it hasnt removed any files.

After running hijack this all files were deleted apart from O20 - Winlogon Notify: drct16 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drct16.dll again.

However after doing the one virus check(could only get one to work), direct 16 was deleted, along with 142 other viruses!. hopefully thats moved us a bit further on in fixing the problem :tazz: .

below is the new log, thanks.

Hi Andrew,

looks like there is one pesky file left to be dealt with :tazz:

Make sure the hidden and system files are visible. For more info visit this page - http://www.bleepingc...tutorial62.html

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5BF72D60-2E30-2CAF-916A-DA031CE59D84} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {67D5B9C4-6D8F-AA9A-E936-A3A4CB7A5E81} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Systemos Restart] Rundll32.exe pifn.dll, DllRegisterServer

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 when PC is starting up).

Search for the file - pifn.dll - using the Windows search function. Delete the file.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode and post a fresh HJT log here

Hi Andrew,

With all other infections gone, we may be able to fix these O2 entries now.

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log here

Hi andrew,

looks like there is a hidden infection somewhere.

Please go to Panda and do an online scan. Save the scan report and post it back here

Hi andrew,

Looks like there is a solution for it.

Back up the registry by going to Start>Run> and type regedit and hit enter. Click on My Computer and then on the file menu choose ‘export’ in XP and save to your desk top. (you can name it today's date or whatever)

Download RegLite.
Install the program and run it.

Copy and paste the next bold into the address bar on top in Registrar Lite:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects

Select: Go (Green button to the right)
On the left pane, the Browser Helper Objects key is highlighted in blue/purple

Next, go to File in the upper menu bar and select: Export
Save in: Desktop
File name: BHO Key
In the Save as area, the following should appear: Regedit4 Standard reg files (*.reg)
Click: Save

Check the Desktop. The exported key should be there.

Back to the main screen of Registrar Lite
On the left pane, go to the Browser Helper Objects key highlighted in blue/purple
Under it, look for the following:

1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55

Right click the entry and select: Delete

Do the same for:

5BF72D60-2E30-2CAF-916A-DA031CE59D84
67D5B9C4-6D8F-AA9A-E936-A3A4CB7A5E81

Once again in the Address box, copy and paste the following:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55}

Select: Go

Go to File in the upper menu bar and select: Export
Save in: Desktop
File name: CLSID Key
In the Save as area, the following should appear: Regedit4 Standard reg files (*.reg)
Click: Save
Check the Desktop. The exported key should be there.

Back to the main screen of Registrar Lite

On the left pane, go to the highlighted:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1353BEC5-B8CE-6C31-8307-BD8425801A55}

Right click the entry and select: Delete

Do the same (Export and then Delete) for:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{5BF72D60-2E30-2CAF-916A-DA031CE59D84}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{67D5B9C4-6D8F-AA9A-E936-A3A4CB7A5E81}

Exit Registrar Lite.

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log here
