Greetings again guys...I'm having issues with some various infections. I did a random check on my process earlier and came across a couple of process that I didn't know of. One being Prositefinder..I googled it and saw that it wasn't supposed to be in there. ( kinda figured that anyways..a process name like that? It don't sound too legit to begin with) I've actually been finding junk with Ad-aware/Spybot the past couple of days but certain things would keep coming back (like that 180 Search thing, which isn't on here now but it'll probably show back up knowing my luck). I did everything in that the first post tells you to do first, but I know there's other issues/infections in this as well that I'm not seeing, and I'd be very greatful if someone could help me get my computer back running smoothly. Thanks in advance!

Hi again Kitsune!

Ok, let's get started. First of all, we will need to get your SpywareGuard's active protection off during the fix, this is because it might get in the way of fixes.
Right-click the running icon of Spywareguard, it will open the program. Click Menu, file, exit, and confirm the programs close.

Please print these instructions out, or write them down, as you can't read them during the fix.

First, please download;

- Clean Up

Run the CleanUp installer & and get it ready to be used, but please don't run the program yet.

Run couple of these free online A/V scans here (Use the auto-clean option);

- Trend Micro
- BitDefender
- RAV
- Kaspersky

Disconnect from the internet. {for broadband/cable users, it is recommended that you disconnect the cable connection}

Please boot up into Safe Mode.

While rebooting your computer, tap f8 continuosly. A menu should come up, choose to go to Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode.

Run HiJackThis;

1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\prositefinderh.exe
C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\prositefinder.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\3cmkp1k7.exe

Exit the process manager.

Close any other open windows.

Run a scan with HJT, when finished, please check these objects for removal;

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [3cmkp1k7] C:\WINDOWS\system32\3cmkp1k7.exe

Make sure that the above mentioned objects are all checked, then hit "Fix Checked".

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file and folder, delete if present;

C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\ <= Entire Folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\3cmkp1k7.exe

Run CleanUp! Be sure to reboot your PC when prompted.
Once your Windows is loaded, please run a new scan with HJT. When it has finished, connect back to the internet and post the fresh log here.

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from HERE (It's a 2 week trial):
  • Click the Free Trial link on the right - next to "SpySweeper for Home Computers" to download the program.
  • Double-click the file to install it as follows:
    • Click "Next", read the agreement, Click "Next"
    • Choose "Custom" click "Next".
    • Leave the default installation directoy as it is, then click "Next".
    • UNcheck "Run SpySweeper at Windows Startup" and "Add Sweep for Spyware to Windows Explorer Context Menu". Click "Next".
    • On the following screen you can leave the e-mail address field blank, if you wish. Click "Next".
    • Finally, click "Install"
  • Once the program is installed, it will open.
  • It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
    Disable SpySweeper Shields
    • Click Shields on the left.
    • Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
    • Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
    • Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items.
  • Once the definitions are installed and shields disabled, click Sweep Now on the left side.
  • Click the Start button.
  • When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
  • Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
  • It will remove all of the items found.
  • Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
  • Click the Summary tab and click Finish.
  • Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply.
Once you have done this, make sure that you have SpywareGuard's protection disabled. If you have it open, please exit it.

Run CleanUp! and reboot your PC when prompted.
Run a new scan with HJT and post the log here along with the log from SpySweeper.

Let's still try this way. This one entry is still on your log..
Run Hjt and close any other open windows. Make sure that it's the only program running at that time. Please make sure that you don't have SpywareGuard on, or SpySweeper's shields on. Run a scan with HJT and check this object for removal;

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ProSiteFinder] C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\prositefinder.exe

Make sure it's checked, then hit "Fix Checked".

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folder & delete if present;

C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\

Please empty your recycle bin.

Reboot your PC, run a new scan with HJT and post the fresh log here.

Your log is clean! Congratulations. ;)

Let's clear out your restore points now.

Disable System Restore;

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check the "Turn off System Restore"
5. Click Apply. An message shows up.
6. Click "Yes" to do this.
7. Confirm with "Ok".

Reboot

Enable System Restore;

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" check box.
5. Click Apply, and then click "OK".

System Restore will now be active again. ;) (Be sure to set a new restore point.)

Here's some tips for future to prevent spyware;

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program <= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall <= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser <= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice;
So how did I get infected in the first place?

If you have any further problems/you notice same symptoms on your machine as earlier, please then let me know and post a fresh HJT log. If everything is running fine, you might want to uninstall HJT from your PC.
