Just wondering,
can you update windows 2000 to windows xp for free?
and if you can, where would i get the download or what ever im going to need for it?

Unfortunately, you cannot. You will need to purchase a copy of XP Home or Pro. These can be found on many online stores as well as at Wal-Mart, Staples or pretty much any store that sells computer hardware or software.
