I used to try playing Counter Strike when i had dial-up, and I realized that just couldn't be done. So after a few months, I got cable, and for some reason that hasnt made a diffrence. Everything skips during gameplay. The application loads fine, and connecting to the server is fast, but when shooting, turning , and other gameplay is involved, it skips more than a broken record. Does anyone know something that could help me? :tazz:

Try setting your graphics quality down a few notches. The game may run fine when offline using your current settings, but online it's usually better to knock it back a bit.

Might have a vid card out dated...If you do get ram (correct me if i m wrong) but say you upgrade that RAM then you should be fine with out lag..Heard that from a friend :tazz:

I had been trying to get more ram for my pc but I realized that my computer is about 4 maybe 5 years old, so it would be worthless to invest anything into it now. How do i found out what graphics card I have?

If it is 4 or 5 years old it is safe to say the hardware isnt up to playing it. Are you talking source or original.

Piano man, there should be no lag with your video card. An 8 mbit integrated video card, 128 of ram can handle counter strike.
Try some of these cvars in the console before you joina server
rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_rate 101
fy_lazyprecache 0

Good luck to you bro, hope this helps.

When your in the main menu of counter strike, do not join any server.

Press this key ~ it is located right below the esc key, once your in there. Enter the cvars one at a time then hit enter.

You are talking about counter strike 1.6 for Steam right?

I believe you dont hve to every time, but I believe the more you do it. It will recognise it again and you wont have to do it, but I would recommend you typing in those cvars atleast every time you join counter strike for 5 times, then you should be good :tazz:
