[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7]hello I need help. It all started when my computer got infected with a mytob worm. With the help of symantic I believe it is gone but its opened the door to pop ups. I have since installed adaware and spybot, run CW shredder and switched to firefox. The computer runs much better but media tickets still tries to load when my computer if first turned on, and every so often while im in other programs.
below is my log if someone could please look at it for me.
thanks
Cindy

cindyanddave,

Welcome to the GTG forums, I will be reviewing you HJT log.

You are currently running HJT from a temporary folder.
Please create a folder on your C:\ drive and rename it something you will remember such as C:\HijackThis. Copy HijackThis.exe into that folder and run it from that location from now on. HJT creates backups in case of any recovery issues.

Once you have done this please post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
rstones12

cindyanddave,

Please read "ALL" of the instructions before proceeding:

You may want to print out these instructions for a reference or you can
save them by copying and pasting them into notepad and saving the text file to the desktop.

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.sho...7973&id=1.20031
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.sho...7973&id=1.20031
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.shopnav.com/q.cgi?q=

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: Band Class - {00027925-0017-4faf-9539-90E4AC0B9EC5} - C:\WINDOWS\eltt.dll

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vidctrl] C:\WINDOWS\System32\vidctrl\vidctrl.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [eltupt] C:\WINDOWS\eltupt.exe

O16 - DPF: {C81B5180-AFD1-41A3-97E1-99E8D254DB98} (CSS Web Installer Class) - http://www.commandon...cabs/cssweb.cab

Close all browsers and open windows except HJT, then click the Fix Checked button. Close HJT.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Now using MyComputer find and remove the following folders/files if present:
C:\WINDOWS\eltt.dll <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\System32\vidctrl\ <-- Folder
C:\WINDOWS\eltupt.exe <-- File

Please make a note if you cant remove or find these files, and post that info in the next log.

Now run the CleanUp program.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
    Uncheck cookies
    This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea.
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp
Reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
rstones12

cindyanddave,

That is just a warning, just make sure that you have all windows closed before running to avoid any conflicts.

Things look much better... :tazz:

Please read "ALL" of the instructions before proceeding:

Go ahead and run the CleanUp program, then reboot your system.

Once you have done this please do the following:

Make sure that you have the latest versions of Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE.
The newest versions are:
Spybot S&D 1.4
Ad-Aware SE 1.06

Here are some links on how to set them up and run scans.

If you are running an older version of Spybot, go to Add-Remove Programs and remove the previous version before installing the new one.
Spybot Setup
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Make sure that you update them both, then run each of the scans. Remove anything they find.

Once you have done this, go ahead and run the CleanUp program again, reboot and post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
rstones12
