I'm stuck in what looks like safe mode after reinstalling (via CD-ROM) Windows 98.

Just previous to reinstalling, I kept getting a DLL error message.

What can I do to get back to normal mode?

Thank you!

Why do you think it "looks" like safe mode?

Does your screen show "Safe mode" in the 4 corners of the screen?

Maybe you're in normal mode but the screen resolution is incorrect.

Hello, Makai and thanks for responding!

No "safe mode" in the corners - just everything big and blurry, from my wallpaper to this webpage.

Oh - and I've tried changing from 640x480 but it keeps going back to that same setting.

deffinitly a driver issue. at school we had to format/reinstall various operating systems on various platforms at least twice a week. the video drivers were always the ones that didn't install with the O/S and the symptoms were always the same

Reinstall drivers? I'm not sure how to do that - I'm at nVidia, downloading what I hope is the driver...77.72_win9x_international (I'm in Sweden).

you should be able to just double click that file when its done. most video drivers are in their own little install program

It may be wise to post your computer specs... vid card model, audio, etc.

You DON'T want to install the wrong drivers!

You could download and install everest that should give you an idea of what you have. Home edition is free.

Well it's good that you found your paperwork! Now you know what you need drivers for.

edited: By the way, once you're done, make sure you post back to let everyone know how happy you are!! :tazz:
