...then I type in 192.168.7.2 into IE and it tries to connect to the internet via another connection. I change the default connection so it doesn't try to connect, and nothing happens.

Nothing happens! Under network settings, the 'LAN' connection seems to be working, but IE can't connect through the Solwise modem.
What are the steps I need to take for simply connecting to the internet through the modem router?

from the picture of the router that i'm looking at on the solwise site... if you look at it from the back - all the way to the right there is a phone jack that says adsl then then an ehternet port then the console port...right?
