Getting "Windows could not start up because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.

I'm using a IBM x40 laptop no cd or disk drive. It has USB port for what good that will do me.

What can I do to get in?

without the cdrom drive you will have some issues. i don't know the logistics of booting from a USB drive...but from what i recall it's not exactly easy if at all possible. Any chance it's still under warranty?

What the....... I still can't boot up off the CD drive and the only thing I'm able to do is get onto IBM's rescue and recovery with rapid restore.... but it would let me restore the file of a USB stick and it sees that it's there. Oh and no getting on to DOS OMG......
