Hey Dude your log is clean. You should put your Hijackthis into a permanent folder instead having it on the desktop.

Please reply back to confirm that everything is ok.

Thanks Storm,

However, I am still having the same problem. When I have more than one window open, I sometimes cannot switch from one window to another. The other window becomes inactive and I have to press ctrl alt del. Once I do that, I close out the task manager and then the window becomes active. This occurs regardless of which programs I am using. Not only does the window become inactive, but I sometimes cannot access the start menu unless I press ctrl al del. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, TheDude. It appears that you are not having a Malware issue. Please make a post HERE in the WindowsXP area. Tell the Staff members in that section the exact problem you are having (your above post) and also please let them know you have already been checked out in the Malware area. The Experts there will be able to help you! :tazz:

hmmm, I don't see much of anything on your computer. Did you have an infection previously? Have you disabled anything in MSConfig? (if so, re-enable it and post a new hijackthis log)

Lets see if we can see anything hiding.
  • Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

  • NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
For some time it will look like nothing is happening. Just keep waiting.
  • Once it's done it will create a log. A window will come up telling you when it's saved. Please post that log here

go to start>run and copy and paste these in one at a time. then copy the results of each log onto this post.

To see the results, do I go to the system part of the event viewer?

Just go to start>my computer> Local Disk C: and search for search.txt and search1.txt. Those are the 2 logs.

Thanks,

The Dude,

That looks clean.

Do you have an older version InCD - in older versions it will cause problems with system running SP2 - such as not being able to get into Safe Mode and other problems.

It is version 3.5.19.2. By the way, I previously uninstalled Nero and still had the same problem.
