can any one tell me of a good way to search for and to get rid of duplicate files and folders? i had to re-install xp home and somehow a am using a lot of memory and i found some dupes. How can i do a sweep and get rid of them

If the duplicates are in the same folder you can just use View>Details and View>Arrange Icons by Size and manually delete the items. I know there are apps for it, but be carefull, there are, for instance, several versions of svchost in your machine and they are all vital for its operation.
