Hello,

Crete will be away from his computer, and I was asked to take over his log.

Let’s get rid of any annoying files in the temps

Download CleanUp!.
If that doesn’t work, use this link.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Scan local drives for temporary files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

Once it's done, press Close. Reboot the system. This will remove files that were in use during the scan.

After the restart

Please run hijack this and post a fresh log.
Fixed?
Or still the same problem?

Try under Internet Options. Scroll down till you find the search settings and make sure they match the settings you set under Custom Search.

In Internet Options, select the Advanced tab & adjust the option for "Searching from the Address bar - When searching".

Can you tell me if it worked?

that's the first thing I looked at. everything is set the way I want it to be, but isn't working as it should. for instance if i type red in the address bar, then hit Ctrl+Enter, I am taken to search results for "red" on MSN. Previously, if I did as described above, I would be taked to http://www.red.com.

1. Go to www.google.nl/google.reg
2. You will now be asked to save a file, do this on your desktop
3. Open the file that you saved (google.reg)
4. Klik Yes to merge it to the registry
5. Clcik OK

Please tell me it's ok now

Something to try

In Internet Explorer click Tools >> Internet Options
Click the Content tab and then AutoComplete
Make sure there is a checkmark next to Web Addresses

If not, put a checkmark next to Web Addresses
Click OK then OK again and see if it works.

after asking around i also got this advise, i think you should carry it out, and tell me if it worked.

Copy the contents of the quote box to notepad:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{CC905FF6-B553-496C-9DFA-CFF65ADCD0FC}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\searchrep.SearchRepPP\CLSID]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\searchrep.SearchRepPP.1\CLSID]
Click save as

Save as clear.reg

Under the filename set to all types.

Save it to the desktop, close all Internet Explorer windows and double click the clear.reg

When asked to merge say yes

Then search for, and delete this file:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdhmd.dll

If you get a message that the file is in use, reboot in safe mode and delete it.

Relax, take a deep breath and do the following:

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
now try again searching for it

Open the command prompt and type this command followed by an Enter

attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32

Then you should be able to see the folder again.
(This sometimes happens as a side-effect of the Alcran worm)

Regards,
