Here's a copy of my HijackThis log. I have attempted several fixes but am not sure if I have corrected the problem. I was able to remove the bitmap from the screensaver list and have deleted the System32 folder inside the policies folder. Did I do it right or wrong and did I miss something. I also seem to be missing a file from my McAffee VirusScan that prevents it from starting. I do not want to re-install it until I am sure I fixed the problems. Also lost my ability to download through windows. i am using Download accelarator to get around this. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Hello and welcome to Geeks To Go.

Lets start out with some general scans and see if we cant clean things up a little.

+++++ Step 1 +++++

Please run an on-line virus scan at Kaspersky OnLine Scan or if that doesnt work, you can use TrendMicro or BitDefender. (Please post the results of the scan(s) in your next reply)

+++++ Step 2 +++++

Update HiJackThis
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click Open the Misc Tools Section
  • Click Check for update online
+++++ Step 3 +++++

After that, I will need to see two different logs from HiJackThis. The first is the normal log like you posted here. To get the other one, follow these directions.

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Post back with those logs and we can continue from there.

If you have recieved help elsewhere or no longer need our assistance, please let us know.

Here's my HijackThis log and the other log you wanted. I managed to delete the trojan spy smitfraud using info I found on your forums. Yo have a great site. Double check for me anyway. One other questions, How do I get the program names out of my Uninstall list if the program has been deleted without using the Uninstall wizard?
Thanks

Hello timbasazuka,

Please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

How do I get the program names out of my Uninstall list if the program has been deleted without using the Uninstall wizard?

Try looking for the name in the uninstall list, click on it, and see if it gives you the option to uninstall/remove it. Normally if it is already gone, it will ask you if you would like the name to be removed from the list.
