Hello. Several times I have noticed icons attatch themselves to my desktop that I just can't seem to get rid of. Ipod, Oreo, and Love are among the titles. I haven't clicked on any of them, and I really want to get rid of whatever's causing them.

Also, I'm trying to download things off of Windows Update, but I never have enough space. I try to run Disc Cleanup, but it is stuck at "Compress Old Files". I don't want to wait hours and hours for it to do that.

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall sosme programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

CleanUp
LQFix.zip
Unzipt the contents of this file and save them in the same folder.

Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

2. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).


3. Delete Rogue files

Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, that is normal.

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

C:\Program Files\Cas <----- Full Folder

C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\aalqqa.exe reg_run

C:\WINDOWS\System32\richup.exe

c:\windows\system32\uexnmhj.exe r
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hneise.exe

Use the Windows Search Function to locate the last three files.

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch and delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.


Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.


Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Ewido scan report.

I couldn't find any of the things you asked me to find in Windows Explorer. It said "the page could not be displayed"

I also couldn't find the O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\elitenbw32.exe

When I ran ewido, it got to 88% complete, then something quit working so I had to close it out, and couldn't get a scan.

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Download Nailfix and save it on your Desktop. Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Run Process Explorer and find the Process uexnmhj.exe in the list of Processes.
Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file c:\windows\system32\uexnmhj.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES
Leave Process explorer running with the process suspended.

After the reboot check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nkduns] c:\windows\system32\uexnmhj.exe r


Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.


Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.


Please visit Panda and do an online scan. Save the scan report. In case you dont want to use Internet Explorer, please visit this site -

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Panda scan report. After you post the HJT log, please do not reboot the PC till I have a look at the log
