I have a funny problem on my Windows XP Professional system.
Due to a problem on Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus which is contantly switching to black and white for no apparent reason and also causing system crashes at times the pinnacle suport team have requested me to run msinfo32.exe.

If I run msinfo32 the following happens:
Help and suport center starts
click on " Use tools to view computer info and diagnose problems"
click on " Advance system info"
click on " View detailed system info (msinfo32.exe)

Now the whole process repeats without actually starting msinfo32

I have attached a scan from hijack this

Thanks for the help

Peter

No other vieweres like sugested were installed. I cannot recall having any other assiation to nfo files. Also when double clicking nfo files the actual help and suport centre opens.

But what I just noticed if I do this the actual system info becommes available. I thus have the ifo that I wanted but why should this only work over this strange way of getting the info.

It does'nt run from Help Center because, Help Center uses scripts to launch other applications and ur Anti-Virus blocks that script.
Also check if it it runs from:
1) Start-> Programs->Accessories-> System Tools->System Information.
OR
2) Start->Run. Type msinfo32. Press Enter.

2) Start->Run. Type msinfo32. Press Enter

This is exactly what I have done but this then starts the help centre.

Oops.. i thought u were trying to open msinfo32 from inside Help Center.
Now follow these steps below:

1) Open regedit.

2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\msinfo32.exe key.
Check the following values inside this key (Ignore the "="):
  • (Default) = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\MSInfo32.exe
  • Path = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo.
3) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\MSInfo32.exe
Check the following values inside this key (Ignore the "="):
  • (Default) = (value not set)
  • NoOpenWith =
Note: NoOpenWith is blank.
