First off, I would like to say, that you guys totally rock! Quick and very helpful.
Second, my original post seemed to have been removed. More than likely because I posted an update before I got a reply... My bad.

So, here we go again.

Ran Adaware-SE, Spybot Search and destroy, Spy Hunter, Ewido, Norton Anti-virus, and panda softs online scan. Even after they all come up clean, Im still getting eaten alive by memory devouring something or wrathers (I believe a 2ndthought virus) and massive pop ups. Not to mention viewpoint media player has rooted its self somewhere in my computer, and I cant get all its files out.

So, here is my Hijack this log:

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall some programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

CleanUp
Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Nailfix.exe
Run it and unzip the archived files.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

2. Remove Infections

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

Ok, I did every thing listed. Computer is still running really slow. Still have some pop ups. I couldnt find any of the files listed that needed to be deleted by going through explorer. Any ways here's my newest HJT log, and I'll have the ewido log tomorrow. Bye the way, thanks a lot. This is such a big help.

Hi glowstyx,

There are a few left over items.

Make sure that the system and hidden files are visible. For more info read this Page.

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\SskBho.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aaou] C:\Program Files\ipee\othb.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ovg] C:\WINDOWS\system32\m?dtc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SurfSideKick 3] C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

SurfSideKick 3

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

C:\Program Files\ipee\othb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\m?dtc.exe
C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3 <----- Full Folder

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Before I post the log of the l2mfix, I wanted to go ahead and point out the following.

Even with hiden files enabled, I cant find any trace of surfsidekick, or the urlsearch. I was able to delete the rest of the files and folders successfully however.

here is the l2mfix log

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Hi glowstyx,

I was about to give you that fix only !!!

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\SskBho.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aaou] C:\Program Files\ipee\othb.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ovg] C:\WINDOWS\system32\m?dtc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SurfSideKick 3] C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC in Safe Mode.

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

Surf Side Kick 3

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

I think we are starting to get to the bottom of this. The prefetch folder is empty. However, my media files still sound garbled. Something that only happens with viewpoint media player. I need to go through the regedit and try and locate its keys and remove them. Can you help me with that one?

Hi glowstyx,

I have a better and simpler idea!!!

Please go to the website of View Point (if you open google and search for View Point, it will be first item).

Install View Point Media Player.

Post the HJT log after installing it. We will get rid of it!!!

Hi glowstyx,

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC in Safe Mode.

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

View Point (all its instances)

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folder -

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log. Also let me know if the issue has been resolved.

Sorry its taken a while to get back to you on this, things have been a little hectic lately. Any ways, I did what you said to do, and yes the problem still persists. Media files playing too quickly and sounding garbled. I've had this happen to me twice already, and I vaugely remember the process for fixing it. There are viewpoint folders in the hidden application folders under documents and settings for almost all users. I deleted those. I uninstalled all instances of view point, but Im still having problems. What I also remember is having to go through and weed out its registry keys, under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER I belive. There was once a site that had all the keys and where they were located for removing them, but I can no longer find it. Any ways, heres my fresh HJT log, tell me what you think. Oh, and Tampabelle, all the annoying popups and memory draining addons have disappeared. :tazz: Thanks for the help on that one.
