  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the configure button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
  • Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\lsass.exe <==Make sure its the one in the System folder not the one in the system32 folder.
  • Double click on that file.
  • HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "YES".
Let me know how that turns out.

as far as The problem with Task Manager and Quick Launch goes. It looks like your on a office/work based machine. So if thats the case it could be that your IT dept has locked you out of it. If thats not the case, let me know and I will look more into it.

Thanks,

Hello Excal,

There is no such C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\lsass.exe file in my computer. :tazz:
We don't have any IT dept here, so nobody turned off the Task Manager.

Thanks,
Takki

Howdy:

You stated in your first post the system is used by many people.. Have you checked to see if anyone installed something like TweakUI on the system or was playing in the Administrators logon and disabled those two services??

For task manager, follow the steps below:
  • Download and open the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    taskmgrenable.reg
  • Reboot.
  • Check if Task manger works, otherwise continue to next step
  • Download and open the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    TaskManager_Reset.reg
