Can you get on another PC? If so, please save WinSockXP Fix to a floppy, CD, or thumbdrive:

http://www.geekstogo...ction=show&id=7

Load the program on the trouble computer to see if that clears things up. <_<

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

When you click "Save Log" in Hijack This it makes a notepat file. Since It sounds like you have that open it up and click "edit" at the top left of the window and click "select all" next click "edit" again and click "copy". Log on to Geeks to Go and come back here and add a reply just like you are doing. When the window to type in comes up right click it with your mouse and click "paste". All of the text from the file will now be in the reply box and you can add anything else you need to say and then post it.

I'm surprised your system still boots up, <_<! It's loaded with viruses/trojans :D. Before we start cleaning up your log, please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Automatic Update] wuamgrder.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update Machine] memstat.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [OEM32 Tools] sres32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Starting up] wvsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Automatic Update] wuamgrder.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] memstat.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] csshlpmgr.exe

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?.
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

Run a search for all these files. Most likely will find most or all of them in the C:\windows\system32

wuamgrder.exe
memstat.exe
sres32.exe
wvsvc.exe
wuamgrder.exe
tdscw.exe
winmplayer.exe
