WinXP hangs after some time

Hi,
i have winxp installed on my system and it just hangs up every now and then. i cant understand what the problem is pls help.
also i have been getting messages fm windows messaging service with msgs like 47 critical registry errors run reg cleaners, and giving links to sites for downloading uploads.
i cant understand is it a hardware prob or OS prob or some spy/virus prob???

Welcome to GTG.
If u suspect a malware infection start here.

If u want to disable the "Windows Messaging Service"
Start->Run.
Type "services.msc". Press Enter.
In the right pane. Double click on "Messenger", change its Startup Type to Disabled

sounds like a case of spyware/adware.....below is a link for a free spyware/adware remover.....Download ...Install...Run....Update definitions...then scan computer and watch the magic.

If you still crash randomly after scanning...could be a heat issue.
