i have a friend who let me have his copy of microsoft office that came with his new gateway computer i tired to install it on my computer which is not a gateway and it wont work why and is there any way i can make it work

does the cd look like an actual microsoft office cd? does it say gateway any where on it or the package it came in?

no, it detects that its not a gateway and won't install.

also your friend is the only one who has legal access to the liscense. if you contacted microsoft they would make you pay full price ($249).

in other words no free software for you. If you need msoffice compatability try open office.
