I am helping a friend with an XP computer tht is doing nothing but rebooting. It gets to the Welcome screen and then reboots over and over.

She said this happened just after she ran Adaware. The computer has a history of spyware infections.

Would appreciate any ideas?

Could be a number of things, try tapping the F8 key right after the beep until you get options, choose safe mode to see if it loads to the desktop, if so, reboot and try safe mode with networking to see if it loads and lets you access the internet, check your firewall has kicked in.

I hate XP's default auto reboot, and disable it immediately after doing an install, or if I'm working on someone's computer. If your friend has SP2 the F8 trick mentioned above should also give the option to shut the auto reboot off, otherwise, if you can get into safe mode, Control Panel> System>Advanced> Statr up & Recovery> Settings. Check your event logs in Admin tools for a clues, too. Post back and we'll go from there.
