There are a couple of other adware issues to address, but before we do so I'd like to address the about:blank issue.
  • Prepare CWShredder:
    • Download CWShredder v1.59.1.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Do not run it yet. We will run it later.
  • Run Symantec's BackDoor Removal Tool:
    • Download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec.
    • Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.
    • Be sure to save the log file. I will need to see it later.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Run CWShredder. Be sure to click Fix as opposed to Scan Only. It should find some things and remove them.
  • Restart your computer once more.
  • Post a new HijackThis log and the log Symantec's tool gave you.

I had to disable search&destroy so it wouldn't keep finding things while monitoring on startup. I did that through msconfig. I could tell though, unfortunately, that it was still restoring itself.

1) Download and CleanUp!

Instal it but do not run it yet.

3) Boot into safe mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4) Show hidden files/folders:
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

5) Find and delete the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bbeagle.exe

6) Run CleanUp! in standard mode. When it asks you to log off, decline. Then restart your computer as you usually would.

7) Post a new log.

I followed the instructions. This file was not found (even with all files visible) c:\windows\system32\bbeagle.exe. I searched the entire dirve and the secondary drive as well and with no luck. I continued and noticed that the main start page is still revertting back to a-search.biz as shown below. Let me know if you have any other ideas. I appreciate all your help.

You guys are good!!! I followed your instructions. ALthought... just like the bbeagle.exe, I could not locate the internetfeatures.exe. Probably not related, but I saw this file (system32\dktiba.exe) and becuase of the date (around D-day), I deleted it. At this point everything seems fine. I appreciate your help, and hopefully we are done. Here is my long anyway. You mentioned previously that there were some other concerns. Let me know if that is still the case. <_<
