My systerm has been running slow and I found your site and thought you may be able to help.

I installed adaware, scanned and deleted 306 files.

I downloaded 5 critical windows updates.

Are there any remaining files that I should delete?

What programs should be in my startup in msconfig

Thanks

Start hijack this and put a check in the box next to the following entry.

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

Click "Fix Checked" and reboot the computer.

I suggest for faster performance: disabling as much stuff from starting up upon windows startup as you can. Microsoft Office and Excel Toolbars for starters. Very big memory hogs that can definitely cause your system to slow. Microsoft Messenger, music match, schedulers and reminders (if you don't use them). Find anything in your startup folder (start, all programs, startup) and remove anything you don't need to startup. There might be something in there that you need though, so if you're not sure then ask us. You can still use this stuff, just start what you need when you need it instead of having a bunch of unnecessary stuff running. When you have a bunch of stuff starting at the same time as windows it stays running after initial startup and uses up memory and resources that you will probably need for more important things. You also have alot of McAffee stuff running. I might suggest you switch to another anti virus program that uses less memory, and Norton wouldn't be the first choice cuz it uses even more mem. You could always buy more ram instead. That should get you started. Let us know how everything works out.
