After my husband logs in on his desktop and the windows start up he gets a window called
RUNDLL the message:
"Error Loading p2esocks-1014.dll, specific module could not be found". This only occurs on his desktop not mine or the kids. We run 4 seperate desktops so it must be something specific to his setup???
Can you help ? PS I run AVG antivirus and AD Aware spyware software.

We can definitely help you, first let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Instant Access] rundll32.exe p2esocks_1014.dll,InstantAccess

Just out of curiosity what folder was p2esocks_1014.dll hiding in?

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing [b]SpywareBlaster
(it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

Good Morning,
I am not sure what folder the p2esocks file was hiding in. After I followed your instructions about which entries to fix on hijack this, the message disappeared. When I went into safe mode and changed the settings to look at hidden files, I searched for the p2esocks file but it was not to be found.... Everything is working fine and as I mentioned before, the message never came up on anyone else's desktop, just my husbands... I don't know where he was on the net but obviously somewhere that the rest of us don't go.... I am installing the spyblaster software as we speak so hopefully won't have any further problems.... Thank you again for all your help...

One important thing to remember for all your spyware/antivirus programs and especially windows....Update! Update! Update! New malware is being released everyday without updates there's no way to keep up.
