I have the Qoologic seems like it would work except before I had some sort of MS XP system error that I have corrected. My concern was that MS Antispyware said it was a high risk level trojan. Should I let MS spyware remove it?

I have spent approx 2 hrs with Mcafee trying to resolve my VirusScan issue and it still is working

Here is the newest HJT log.

Try this location. It is safe to run.

Download FindQoologic from http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981
Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
Open the FindQoologic folder. Preferable to your desktop.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
wait until a text opens, post it in a reply to your thread.

Hello again,

Sorry it's been a while since I have been able to respond to your last request to post a new HJT log. I have been working with Mcafee all week to resolve some issues with VirusScan, Security Center, and Firewall. I'm at a Tier 3 assistance level! Still working on it.

Any way, I started scanning my computer last night and plan on continuing this evening - spybot, ad-aware, MS antispyware, virusscan. After that I will post a new HJT log and let you know if I find any other suspicious files. If you have any other instuctions for me at this time let me know.

Is there a suggested way to remove the "suspicious" Qoologic that was installed on my computer before the last link you gave me?

Thanks again

Let's find it and then get rid of it.

Ok - spybot, ad-aware, MS antispyware - NOTHING![FONT=Arial]

BUT my limping virusscan found the following 6 files:

restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002482.exe named Adware-abetterintrnt Virusscan delete
restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002483.exe named Adware-abetterintrnt Virusscan delete
restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002484.exe named Adware-SmartPops Virusscan delete
restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002485.exe named Adware-SAHAgent Virusscan quarantined
restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002486.exe named Adware-SAHAgent Virusscan quarantined
restore{B37680B2-BOA-4E5D-83E44C58624}\RP17\A002487.exe named Adware-SAHAgent Virusscan quarantined

I also had to quaratine 3 other files yesterday:
3kugg8bf.ini
kt938dik.ini
vrdmhd2m.ini
all 3 named Adware-SAHAgent

Again these are quarantined by mcafee - please let me know what to do with them.

1. Have you run findqoologic?
2. what problems are you experiencing besides what your virus scan found?

No didn't run Qoologic - couldn't at first (my computer problem - believe I fixed that) then MS Antispyware didn't like the what was installed. It quarantined it in MS antispyware and then I let it delete it.

So as of now, no pop ups, no warnings, no suspicious files other than the 6 mcafee found. Computer seems to run fine. Just started allowing others in the house back on - internet use.

Startup is still a little slow BUT I now think there is a good possibility that Mcafee may be causing that because of it's strangeness and error messae at this time. I'm waiting contact from a Tier 3 support tech.

Too much info? That's me!
Think we're done (for now)?
Wait until Mcafee is corrected?

Thanks

Does everyone who uses the computer in the household have their own profile? If so, let me see a hijack log from them one at a time.

I will leave this topic open for a few days in case you run into troubles.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  • IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  • Weather Watcher - Free taskbar weather program that is free, malware free, and resource light.

Thank you so much for your efforts and assistance, I learned a lot. A donation that I would make goes to you directly?

Thanks again

Yes, it would, but it is not necessary.

Here is a great tutorial you can read during your off-time :tazz:

It explains what each number means, etc. It may help you down the road.

Good luck and post back if you need further assistance. ;)

Thought of another question -
Since I am not finding anything suspicious on my computer at this time, would you recommend downloading Microsoft SP2 or leave well enough alone? When SP2 came out, I did install it and no matter what I did (with assistance of course) it was not compatible with Mcafee at that time. So at the recommendation of a Microsoft tech, I removed it.

Also, Mcafee is still trying to fix the errorrs I am having with their product. Supposed to have a fix for me 8/15/05.

Thanks
