Ok...first is the Log from Ewido...and then from HiJackThis. Ewido did find some risky things as you will see. How is Ewido different from say...any other antivirus? It seems as though it found mostly internet related problems...which is good. Is this something u recommend i keep...or was this just to help clear up my problem?

How is Ewido different from say...any other antivirus?

It's an anti-spyware program so it's a lot different from anti-virus programs.

It seems as though it found mostly internet related problems...which is good. Is this something u recommend i keep...or was this just to help clear up my problem?

I really like Ewido. After the 2 week trial is up it can still be updated and run, so I don't see any reason not to keep it because it's a great anti-spyware program. It is not meant to replace any anti-virus program.

Did you uninstall AVG? The services are still showing in your log, but now have file missing (which doesn't necessarily mean the files are gone, but they could very well be!), so I was just wondering if you removed it through Add/Remove programs yet.

My next recommendation is to uninstall LeechGet and re-install it, if you need it. Ewido found Hidrag in the leechget file and may have deleted it. Other than that it looks good! Any other problems?

Yeah i might just have to hold on to Ewido..it seems to be a great program. I also noticed that it found Hidrag in the Leechget files, which kinda worried me (but i think it took care of the problem)..i dont really use it much, so i will prolly just uninstall it.

Yes i have uninstalled AVG....It said file missing because i had to manually delete the files because for some reason i could not find an option to uninstall it in the program itself....and Add/Delete Programs couldnt do the job either. I guess maybe the application needed to uninstall AVG was missing or maybe i deleted it or something. i dunno, but its just fine now. After that i went ahead and uninstalled the 2 AVG services and rechecked my HijackThis log again and they are now gone. So AVG is now off of my system completely.

Other than that, i think my system is running great. Oh about my computer being attacked like i mentioned earlier....the attacker that always comes up is named "Helkern", but always at a different IP address. I did a search for that topic on the internet and found many topics. It seems that Helkern is also know as the Slammer Virus, and infects mostly PC's or servers running SQL Server 2000 i believe. I dont think i have to worry about it really.

Anyways...you've been an outstanding help! I cant say how greatfull i am for this website and the people like you that help people like me out. lol Thanx again!

You're very welcome! I'm happy I could help ;)

As I said previously, if you're being attacked you need a firewall!!

Congratulations your log is clean! Great job on the clean up :tazz:

I recommend checking the http://www.microsoft.com website periodically for critical updates to install.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications - all of them can be safely installed together along with the programs you curently have (Kaspersky and Ewido):

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
