Hiya guys !!! :P

Hey, dont run.. come back here... :D

Ok, here is my story... :D

I got a downloadable tutoral for my CubeCart website program from the CubeCart website its self.

And after I downloaded it, I noticed that when I open up other Icons on my desktop which opens up other programs, they wont open at all..

And when I have rebooted, I get this FULL BLACK SCREEN stating this: (READ ALL, THERE ARE TWO MESSAGES)

Cannot find a device file that maybe needed to run Windows or a Windows application.

The windows registry or SYSTEM.INIfile refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using itsuninstall or setup program.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

C:\PROGRA`1\GRISOFT\AVG6\AvgCore.vxd

(Please hit any key to continue)

And then when I do, I get this other message that says the same thing as above but with this program listed:

C:\PROGRA`1\GRISOFT\AVG6\Avgfsh.vxd

And then I hit enter again, and then my windows will load up...

This program wiped out the startup for my McAfee software, Paintshop, HP Photo Imaging, and Winzip.

This is so far what I have tried getting into after all this has happend, so I had to reinstall the programs to get them running right again...

I hope you can help me, which I am sure you can... You all are GEEKS <_< and love ya for it... :o

Thanks!

Your log needs some cleaning up, but first, why do you have Grisoft when you have McAfee running? You only need one anti-virus program. This can cause problems.

well, I should'nt...

I got rid of that when AOL offered me the McAfee...

I see MyVine on there too, so that is another one that needs to go as well... That was my old Internet service provider...

Ok... What do I need to clean up?
And how to fix my startup and get it to stop doing what its doing....

Thanks

Looks like trouble may be AVG related. Have you tried reinstalling it?

Nope.... Cause I have done that before when changing anti-virus programs, and it wants to shut off the one that is in use while downloading the other, or deletes the other program.

I would like to keep my McAfee.

So... ummm... now what?

You don't want to have McAfee and AVG installed on the same system. They may cause conflicts, and will provide less protection -- not more.

Uninstall AVG and see what happens. <_<

Hey hun... <_<

I did uninstall it... I did that when I got the McAfee...

Like I said before, I downloaded that tutorial from Cube Cart "also the one you sent me" but I did this before that...

And ever sense I did that, this happend... I also had issues with my programs not wanting to open to where I had to reinstall my Winzip, Adaware, Spyware Blaster, and my Winpatrol...

Those are the ones that I can remember that I had to reinstall so I can open them again...

This is when I started having all these issues.... Cause of that download tutorial...

So.... now what? And from my HiJack log, find files and folders, and add/remove programs, there is no AVG listed anywhere that I can find.

The only thing that I see on my HiJack Log that I know needs taken off is the MyVine... "Last Internet service provider"

So I dont know hun... I'm just as confused... I have been scanning my puter with McAfee daily sense the Trojan that I told you about, and I am clean as well as any adaware bugs...

Ok.... topic tag... Your turn... :D

I'm running out of ideas. The tutorial you're referring to was a PDf file. I saved it and opened it on my system without any problems, or warning of infection.

I'm going to have to sleep on it. <_< Remind me in a couple days if I haven't replied. :D

No.... Not the one you sent me hun... <_<

I was told about that when I was asking for assistance with CC, and they directed me to a website that had that tutorial...

And I downloaded it from there, and then that is when I got all the problems..

Later, you sent me the same tutorial and I had no issues with that one...

Sorry if I was not clear in explaining...

Let's try this:

1. Run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

2. And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

3. Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select safe mode from the menu).

4. Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Reboot and see how it's working. <_<
