Hello everyone,

I got a virus a week ago which hijacked my Internet Explorer browser.

The symptoms were;

1 - Internet Explorer started up every time my PC started
2 - Internet Explorer always defaulted back to the about:blank page, and always defaulted to this page as my home page.
3 - Various other browser sessions started without my consent.

I ran all the various PC clean up software and this seemed to remove the virus.

Symptoms 2 and 3 have gone, but symptom 1 persists - IE always starts whenever I turn on my PC :tazz: . The program is not listed in my startup folder.

Can anyone tell me where it is starting from and how to stop it?

Kind regards, Simon

Go to Start/Run... type in msconfig

In the System configuration window, select the Startup tab.

Do you see a reference to IE there? If so uncheck it and restart your computer.

Hi Makai,

I've just managed to remove it from the "Run" folder in the Microsoft software area of the registry and that's fixed it.

Thanks for replying anyway.
