Help reformating Windows ME

Naturaly I opt to return to the command  prompt as I have tried the other two options.
All that happens then is I get the prompt A:>

I have no idea what to do next.

Any suggestions?

Okay.. go back to this point..

Now, change the a:>\ prompt to your cd-rom drive letter prompt.. Next, type in dir /p (space between dir and /p).. Tell me everything that shows up there..

It does not alow me to change the A:> promp. The curser won't even go back.

Nothing happens if you type in "cd <your cd drive letter>" (no quotes) and press <enter>??

ie: cd d:

Murray
