Hi acdcgirl and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. If you haven't logged in go to Geeks to Go and do so. Then proceed to item a.

If you already have logged in, go directly to item a.

a. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window.
b. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
c. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Close ALL windows except HJT

B. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

C. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

I never asked you to Delete SpySweeper but since it is off your machine, please do not reinstall it until we are all finished.

1. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite Here
  • Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files.
  • DO NOT USE IT YET.
  • (if you already have the program, please just update)
2. Please download NailFix.zip from HERE to your Desktop.
  • Create a Folder on your desktop by rightclicking on an open area of your desktop, choosing NEW>>Folder.
  • Name the the new folder Nailfix
  • Click on Nailfix.zip and extract both files to this new Nailfix Folder you just created.
  • Close the Nailfix folder
  • DO NOT USE IT YET.
3. Download and install CleanUp! HERE*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.
DO NOT USE IT YET.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Click HERE to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. ****Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet****.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode without networking.

4. We want to stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

To stop a service and set to 'disabled'
  • Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
  • Click the Extended tab.
  • Scroll down until you find the service.
    ===>Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc)
  • Click once on the service to highlight it.
  • Click Stop
  • Right-Click on the service.
  • Click on 'Properties'
  • Select the 'General' tab
  • Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box
  • From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'
  • Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'
The service is now stopped and disabled.

5. Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one (If they still exist)

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
C:\windows\system32\JpXUz.exe
c:\windows\system32\cyfrvf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\JpXUz.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\Torie\LOCALS~1\Temp\12.tmp\thnall1a.exe

6. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd .
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

7. Now open and run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan when it ask if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK
  • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

8. Open HiJack, click SCAN.

9. Put a Check next to the following items:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

We want to stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

A. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'
  • Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
  • Click the Extended tab.
  • Scroll down until you find the service.
    ===>Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc)

2. Print this out please

1. Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

2. Run Process Explorer and find the Process in the list of Processes.

ixgrcf.exe

3. Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

4. Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...

5. In the explorer Window, locate and select the file c:\windows\system32\ixgrcf.exe

6. When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process explorer running with the process suspended.

7. After the reboot, check the following items in HijackThis.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qvfxwq] c:\windows\system32\ixgrcf.exe r

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

8. REBOOT your system

9. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

:tazz: ... I hope its okay so I can move on to fixing my laptop and POSSIBLY my other PC... this one is the most important though.. taxes and such

~PS. I don't know if its important, but when I went to stop the system startup, it was already stopped... I was able to disable it, but it said it was already stopped now and before in the initial "intensive clean"

1. Go to START>>RUN and type services.msc > o.k
  • A window will appear titled "Services".
  • .Scroll down the list of services on the right and find the one that corresponds to [Windows Services Hosts] svhosts.exe
  • Highlight the service and choose STOP from the 2 choices that appear under the heading Service Local.
  • Exit this window
2. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Windows Services Hosts] svhosts.exe

Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file, and DELETEit(if it is present):

svhosts.exe<===You will have to search for it and be carefull of the spelling
Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everything looks now.
