Hi again,

We have two (2) computers, one (1) for each of my kids in college & I appreciate all of your help in getting Computer #1 running well again.
However, the 2nd computer which operates with Windows 98 (SE) has similar problems that I encoutered with the previous system. I have recently run Adware today, as well as CW Shredder, Spybot & your online virus scan & threats and all have indicated possible problems.
I downloaded Hijack This & attached is the result of the scan:

Looks like you got 'em all. <_<

Except, I would strongly recommend uninstalling Eanthology Stop Sign and install another antivirus program. Here's a free one:
http://www.grisoft.c...s_dwnl_free.php

Here's a little bit of cleaning up to do:
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Hello again,

I did as you said, removed stop anti virus program & the files indicated by you to be removed in Hijack is now complete.
I still find things a little sluggish & wonder if there may be a virus. I downloaded the professional Cleaner, ran it & everything looks good there. When I previously ran Stop anti virus program, it indicated possible threats/ viruses. Also, I ran the Stinger program & it also came up clean.
Anyway, whatever you suggest, I am open to it!!

Here is another scan performed by HijackThis

Your system looks clean. You don't appear to have too many programs running at startup, and you've also covered the bases as far as viruses and trojans are considered.

If your system's still to slow it could be that your BIOS settings got changed (I'd recommend resetting to default, and verify the FSB settings), or OS corruption. If you've had this installation of Windows 98 installed for some time you should consider a reformat and reinstall. It's a big job, and you'll have to first back up any data you want saved. Adding and removing programs, system crashes, poorly constructed patches, all contribute to "bit rot", or operating system corruption. The only way to repair this corruption is to reinstall Windows. Windows 98 doesn't like reinstalling over itself, so the best option is to reformat and reinstall.
