Since Downloadind the new version of spybot sd I get an error box everytime my computer boots up. back web app. id 1940576
I downloaded hijackthis and scanned for my log file. What do I delete to fix problem? Thanks You very much in advance I am new at this and don't understand a great deal of this type of thing.

This probably isn't malware this time. Do you have an HP by any chance? They install two version of backweb on home computers and your spyware program most likely removed one of them. I have an HP and I manually removed one and got the same error, but a different ID, they are for each computer. Unfortunately I haven't found out how to remove the annoying popup. But it's a machine that someone threw away, but later gave me the disks for, and I don't use it very often. BTW the other backweb is used for HP updates, so don't remove it. Other mfrs. may also use backweb too.

PS I just rechecked your log, it's a Compaq, and they are using backweb for updates. If you go down the list you will find it. Just put the number in the Find function.

Hi Tyger. It is a compaq. I found early if I went to the startup menu and unchecked compaq connections I could make it go away. Then I did a search with just the number as you suggested. I deleted just the error message link under the several things that came up from the back wed id issue. It then doesn't come up once I enabled the compaq connections. I think it is fixed now.
