I have a computer here ( p4 2.67ghz/1gbram/2x80gb hd/winxpprosp1) running office 2000. Recently whenever you open a document either a new one or an old one it says an error has occured and the program will be closed and asks you to report it to microsoft.

it says the appsname is winword.exe and the modname is hpzntp04.dll

I did run a virus scan and adware/spybot scans... virus scan was clean but the adware found a few things but nothing major...

Now you can drag the error message to the side and use word but as soon as you "report it" or "don't report it" it closes word. Any ideas? i guess an uninstall/reinstall would be my next idea but I thought I'd see if any of you have run into this... as I won't be back with it till tomorrow

Howdy:

The appsname is the Word .exe file..

The modname is an HP printer file.. Do you use an HP printer??

If so, try a repair of Word using the Office cd; try updating or re-installing the drivers for your printer or; do both!!

print screen isn't going to work as when you click details it runs off the screen.... it would take 5 or 6 to get all and it won't let me copy and paste.

I uninstalled and reinstalled word 2000 but that didn't do anything... once you enter all the info and it gets started it crashes within a few seconds.

Here is what it says in event viewer:

Have you tried using the Office cd and just running a repair??

Also, dump all the printers and their drivers/operating programs and see what happens..

I appologize for not responding sooner..... we had a family emergency and things are just starting to get back to normal.

Word is actually from works suite not office in this case. The other problem we already had a problem with one of his other computers trying to remove and reinstall the printer which is an hp all in one printer. The only way I got the software to reinstall last time was to format the hard drive and reinstall windows. And that was with several hours phone support from hp on two seperate occasions. So before I try removing that I'll check with him and see what he wants to do....
