The short story is this: My computer, operating with Windows 98SE, will not boot up in normal mode. It seems normal right up until the moment I would expect my boot music to play when it restarts and defaults itself into safe mode.

The long story is this: A few days ago, when the computer first failed to boot up properly, Grisoft's AVG identified a Trojan horse that it termed classload.jar. This was quarantined and deleted, but this did not resolve the problem. I ran Spybot, Spy Doctor, and Registry Mechanic, but they had no problem. AdAware found something it called Hi-Wire, and those files were quarantined. (Hmm, are they in the registry still and need to be deleted with regedit?). A couple days ago, I posted my HJT file on a website and got a *little* help; HJT indicated that my PC had PSTORES.exe running, and it was advised that I delete that. That didn't help either. So now I feel like I've pared down a good deal, but my PC still isn't booting. Next step: reformat, but I'm loathe to do that, especially since one of my CD-drives sometimes wobbles the CD...

I can only access the net from public terminals right now, so my response will be delayed.

Thanks for any help...
