Please take a look at my log below. I got hit with the wareout automatic download. I unistalled the wareout, before I knew of other problems. Now my largest problem is with IE. There is an unwanted toolbar that redirects to stopzilla when you try to remove, and View-Toolbars- selections are all greyed out.

Here is the Hijackthis log: Thank you.

Hello, thank you for helping me. I have resolved some of my problems. Got rid of the toolbar with Microsofts Antispy. However, the View-Toolbars options are greyed out. Also, Ad-aware SE keeps locking up and not completing it's run. Let me know what you can do to help. Thank you again.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP, or Service Pack 4 if you are running Win2k. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

I will try again to apply Service pack 4. I had tried it yesterday and it failed to complete. Will get back to you when I am done. Thank you.

Ok, I ran through the installation and near complete then I got a message. "Setup cannot copy wbemtest.exe"

I canceled that copy and then it gave me option to continue without or undo installation. Not knowing what was up I went with undo installation.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Please go HERE (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer (not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
  • Click on Windows Validation Assistant
  • Click on the Validate Now button.
  • Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
  • Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
  • Enter your product key then click continue
  • When it says "Validation Complete" please click Continue to return to your previous activity
  • Copy what it says and paste it here.
Thanks,

Ok, I went to the site and ran through the questions. However, it keeps freezing up after asking me if their is a D on the right hand side of the label on my computer.
