Im postting about my dads computer because this morning it was turned on and the start button and several other buttons were flashing including a desktop icon.
They were flashing as though you would highlight them. the start button would be in lined square - - - - - like that and when you would open it it would just flash and close. i got the start menu to say up by switching it to clasic view but it still flashed.
Virus scans did not show anything.
with nortin and spy sweeper.

some of the processes running at the time that looked out of place are:
Cpfmon
Nmain
Gwmdmmsg
Xwmsapi
Agentsur
Fmss
Srbbcs
Sndsrvc
Issvc
Wdsmsr
cesetmgr
Ccproxy
alg
all in .exe

so what is going on here?
thx for the help.
(i am somewhere else posting and i do not have acess to the computer right now.)

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
