Hello everybody,

I am a novice PC user, I had no antivirus installed in my PC when a friend told me to scan all my computer so I could detect if I had any virus. So I scanned my computer online from www.panda... and it detected the Polall1l.exe.

I had installed before the SP2 in my windows XP and I only want to know how can I remove the virus because my ADSL is now slower and sometimes Internet Explorer doesn't work properly.

Please if somebody knows how to help me write a detailed message so that I can follow all the steps to erase it... Thanxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi petrusvanbasten, welcome to Geeks to Go!

I'd recommend you install an AV program. AVG has a very good free version that can be found here: http://www.grisoft.c...s_dwnl_free.php

Download, install, and run a full system scan to detect and clean any viruses present. <_<

Thank you for the info...

I am trying to download AVG, I store it in my hard disk but when I run it and it is supposed to ask for my Serial Number it says SHELL.DLL does not exist!!!
Then I accept and it says that the access route C:\DOCUME1...\setup.exe is not valid.

What to do??

Description: sysof.dll

I can't install xscan53.cab so I can't scan my computer with the URL you sent me...

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

-> Click on Proceed to save the settings.

-> Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:
  • Use Custom Scanning Options
-> Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

-> Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

-> When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
