We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Hi Sal,

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall some programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

CleanUp

DelDomains.inf

Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Nailfix.exe
Double click on this file. It will create a new folder Nailfix on your desktop and place a couple of files in it.

2. Remove Infections

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

3. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

C:\word.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dsr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat10.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sqyk.exe
C:\windows\system32\mcanev.exe

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch and delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!

Right click on DelDomains.inf and click on Install.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Ewido scan report.

Hi Sal,

Your log looks better but we still need to fix a few items. Unfortunately, you have an infection which changes the file names of bad files at every reboot. So if you have rebooted your PC since you posted your HJT log, then the file name would have changed.

I will tell you how to identify the latest file and how to fix it. I am using the file name from your last HJT log, please substitute it with the latest file name.

The infections is identified by this line in the HJT log -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yhpjti] c:\windows\system32\hdsxcfd.exe r

Characteristics of it are -

1. Line starts with O4 - HKLM\..\Run
2. The name in brackets - yhpjti here - is a random name.
3. The file name - hdsxcfd.exe - is also a random name and ends with .exe
4. The line ends with "r".

In case you are not comfortable doing this on your own, then please post a fresh HJT log and dont reboot the PC till you have the fix from me.

Download Process Explorer from HERE

Run Process Explorer and find the following process in the list of Processes:

hdsxcfd.exe

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended the whole time! Do NOT close it - even when your system is rebooting!

Then run HijackThis. Click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file c:\windows\system32\hdsxcfd.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

After the reboot check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qtet] C:\WINDOWS\System32\qtet.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [yhpjti] c:\windows\system32\hdsxcfd.exe r
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com
O16 - DPF: NDWCab - http://www.neededware.com/ndw4.cab

Rescan with HiJackThis and post the new log.

Hi Sal,

Please download the file ProcessExplorerNt.zip and save it on your desktop. Right click on this downloaded file and extract its contents to the desktop. One of the extracted files will be procexp.exe. Run that.

Now proceed with the rest of the fix.

Hi Sal,

I misunderstood your query !! But looks like you got rid of it !!!!

Download DelDomains.inf and save it on your desktop.

Copy the following into a new text file in Notepad and then save it as fix.reg (make sure the Save as Type is set to All Files) -

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"sqyk"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"qtet"=-

Double click on fix.reg and let it merge with your registry.

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Tsl2] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\tsl2.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qtet] C:\WINDOWS\System32\qtet.exe

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode.

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

TSA

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

C:\Program files\Common files\tsa <----- Full Folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qtet.exe

Right click on DelDomains.inf and click on Install.

Reboot the PC in Normal mode and post a fresh HJT log here

Hi Sal,

Did some research on the issue and also discussed the issue with my colleagues.

Looks like there might be a hidden file which is making this qtet.exe file to regenerate.

Please visit Panda and do an online scan. Save the scan report.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Panda scan report.
